A long time

It has been a long time since I last wrote. Since then I have been to Bali and Lombok and Malaysia on a fantastic relaxing holiday, 5 star luxury all the way and gaining a new appreciation of other cultures. In my work I shortly relocate to a new section, assisting with overseeing Australian higher education policies and programs. Interesting and very demanding. The big house on the hill never sleeps and has to be fed constantly. And I am still working on my PhD thesis, a biography of a 19th century Queensland administrator, politician and statesman. I have finished it, and am now tidying up loose ends and should submit sometime this year. My relationship with my partner is back on track after a few hiccups caused by her Indian parents refusing to accept that she could have the temerity to live with a non-Indian. It was touch and go for several months but she has now chosen her current life over that of her parents. My daughter turned 21 last week and we had a wonderful cruise on the lake for her and 40 friends. A great time had by all. Such a responsible and polite generation, not at all like mine!
